The Hamilton Marines lost against the Hilltop Cadets back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Hamilton lost to Hilltop on the road by a decisive 62-44 margin. Hamilton has not had much luck with Hilltop recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Jagger Hurraw and Andrew Merritt certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Hurraw scored 22 points, while Merritt scored 13 points along with three blocks. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. Zane Ritter was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.
Hamilton bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.8 points per game. As for Hilltop, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamilton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against JV Opponent at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. As for Hilltop, they will head out on the road to face off against Gorham Fayette at 7:15 p.m. on December 19th.
