After a string of four wins, the Leonardtown Raiders's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 59-49 to St. Charles. Leonardtown found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 16 fewer assists than your opponent.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Miller, who scored 18 points. Miller has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Landon Windell, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Shamir Taylor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Charles, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times he's played. Xavier Buchanan was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Leonardtown's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for St. Charles, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Leonardtown will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Charles, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
