The Troy Trojans pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 80-55 loss at the hands of Lapwai. While losing is never fun, Troy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Wildcats are ranked tenth).
Kase Wynott was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 34 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists for Lapwai. Wynott is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahlius Yearout, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds.
Troy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Lapwai, their win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Kubs at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. As for Lapwai, they will square off against the Loggers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
