It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Melrose Golden Wildcats can now relate to. They took a 33-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dyer County. It was the first time this season that Melrose let down their fans at home.
Several Golden Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sadat Muhammad, who threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was William Carver, who picked up 88 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Melrose's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Dyer County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Melrose does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Dyer County will head out on the road to face off against Haywood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Haywood is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
