Chloe Enger made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Wilcox RVT let Cierra Maggiore and Sam Olechowski run wild. Maggiore went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs, while Olechowski got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ariana Suarez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Wilcox RVT always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Wolcott RVT and Whitney RVT, and Whitney RVT kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats lost 25-13 to the Owls on Monday.
Morgan Thompson stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Schaer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Wilcox RVT pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Wolcott RVT, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Wolcott RVT's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wilcox RVT has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Wolcott RVT, though, as they've been averaging 14.2 hits. Given Wilcox RVT's sizable advantage in that area, Wolcott RVT will need to find a way to close that gap.
