After a string of three wins, the Northeastern Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 59-48 to Farmville Central. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Northeastern came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Farmville Central is ranked 241st).
Despite the loss, Northeastern still got an impressive performance from Jasmine Felton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Felton's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Simpson, who scored ten points along with five assists.
Jamya Saddler continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Farmville Central, scoring 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Nakevia Phillips, who scored seven points.
Northeastern's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Farmville Central, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Northeastern will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Bertie at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Farmville Central and Eastern Wayne will round out the year against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Eastern Wayne's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so Farmville Central's offense will have their work cut out for Farmville Central.
