The Vanguard School Coursers typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Banning Lewis Academy Stallions proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 56-50 win over the Coursers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Banning Lewis Academy.
Banning Lewis Academy can attribute much of their success to Joseph Bjegovich, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Bjegovich continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Trey Oden, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why The Vanguard School lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cameron Rowney. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Rowney hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. JJ Wetters was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.
Banning Lewis Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for The Vanguard School, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-1.
Banning Lewis Academy will take on Fountain Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for The Vanguard School, they will head out on the road to take on Manitou Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manitou Springs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 190th, while The Vanguard School is ranked 28th).
