The Moses Lake Mavericks will challenge the Southridge Suns at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Moses Lake and Sunnyside meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. Moses Lake blew past Sunnyside 23-7.

Moses Lake got a massive performance out of Hayden Morris, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Morris continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Lila Johnson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.
Moses Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .684. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southridge). Everything went their way against Pasco on Tuesday as Southridge made off with a 22-2 win. The Suns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.
Avery Garvey made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two triples, five RBI, and one run. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jadyn Holdren was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with seven RBI, four runs, and three doubles. Another player making a difference was Orian Hagen, who went 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI.
Southridge's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.6 runs this season. As for Moses Lake, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Moses Lake has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .494. However, it's not like Southridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .584. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Moses Lake took their victory against Southridge in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 11-2. Does Moses Lake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
