The Tygarts Valley Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Highland Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Tygarts Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Tygarts Valley is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Shady Spring just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-3.
Jaxon Drennen was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out 15 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Drennen wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Armstrong, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Highland didn't have quite enough to beat Narrows on Saturday and fell 10-9. The Rams have struggled against the Green Waves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
John Wagner was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Levi Warner also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Highland now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Tygarts Valley, their record now sits at 3-2.
