The Impact Christian Academy Lions won the last time they faced the Westside Wolverines, and things went their way on Thursday too. Impact Christian Academy took down Westside 66-50. Given Impact Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Westside is ranked 597th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Impact Christian Academy was led to victory by Ronald Clark and Wayne Johnson. Clark scored 15 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Johnson scored 17 points. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Christopher Jackson, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Westside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaylen Mitchell. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Mitchell scored a full 26% of Westside's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Impact Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Westside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.
Impact Christian Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Royal Palm Beach at 5:30 p.m. on December 28th. Hopefully Royal Palm Beach focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday. Westside will take on North Marion in a holiday battle at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at. North Marion is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.8 points per game.
