The Wheeler Eagles entered their tilt with the Tremont Eagles with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Wheeler was the clear victor by a 50-30 margin over Tremont. Wheeler pushed the score to 44-23 by the end of the third, a deficit Tremont cut but never quite recovered from.
Leading Wheeler to victory were Rebekah Mason and Marley Garrett. Mason dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds, while Garrett shot 4-for-8 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garrett has scored all season. Emma Kate Beckham was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
When it comes to explaining why Tremont lost on Monday, one person who can't be blamed is Paige Gillespie. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Wheeler's win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Tremont, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-16.
Wheeler won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Biggersville at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Wheeler focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Monday. Tremont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
