5A District 3 recap November 19, 2013
Shawnee was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Claremore. The Wolves came in at 18 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Adding to the longest winning streak in 5A District 3 this week, Shawnee beat the Zebras 42-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for Billy Brown's team.
McAlester's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dalton Wood threw for 161 and 3 touchdowns and Caden Pratt had 70 yards receiving. On the ground Jarome Smith contributed 216 yards. Mason Bumphus helped McAlester's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 50 yards.
Smith was a beast in the backfield as the Buffaloes defeated East Central.
Wood put up the best numbers in passing as McAlester topped the Cardinals.
McAlester's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Buffaloes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Wood has thrown for 1,404 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Cade Harkins has 38 catches for 833 yards.
Bryan Pratt's team took down East Central 76-28 last week, the largest margin of any game. Wood ran for 114 yards in the win.
