The Fairless Falcons will face off against the Claymont Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairless is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Fairless and Orrville, and Orrville kept the tradition alive. The Falcons came up short against the Red Riders on Thursday, falling 12-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Falcons have suffered against the Red Riders since April 14, 2022.
Fairless saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zack Long, who went 2-for-4 with one run. Deegan Meek also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Claymont sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Canton South on Thursday.
Brady Fox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brayson Gray, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Fair, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Claymont's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7. As for Fairless, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Claymont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fairless hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. It's a different story for Claymont, though, as they've only averaged .186. Will they be able to contain Fairless' hitters?
