Given Somerset Academy - Canyons' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Inlet Grove is ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
King Bridgett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Watson Eloi, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Inlet Grove lost, one person who can't be blamed is Benson Murat. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Ja?Marcus Johnson , who scored eight points.
Somerset Academy - Canyons pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Inlet Grove, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somerset Academy - Canyons will square off against Boynton Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Boynton Beach comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Inlet Grove, they will head out on the road to face off against Palm Beach Gardens at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
