It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Grafton Gators can now relate to. They took a 20-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Scituate on Friday. Grafton's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Grafton still got an impressive performance from Finn Gilmore, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown. Gilmore is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Jackson Thomas Belsan was the offensive standout of the match as he punched in a rushing scores, and also threw for 195 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.7% of his passes.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Scituate's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Sean Coyne and Charles Murphy who racked up four sacks between them.
Grafton's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Scituate, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Grafton's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Millbury at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. Millbury will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Grafton is ranked 46th). As for Scituate, they will head out on the road to face off against Hingham at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Hingham is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
