The Thompson Valley Eagles's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They really took it to Niwot for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-27 win at home. The score was close at the half, but Thompson Valley pulled away in the second half with 33 points.
Thompson Valley was led to victory by Jesika Hopkins and Paige Wagner. Hopkins scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Wagner scored ten points along with five steals. Wagner has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Bailey Grace was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Niwot's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rose Pacheco, who scored eight points.
Thompson Valley now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Niwot, they bumped their record down to 2-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Thompson Valley will challenge Skyline at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Skyline focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. As for Niwot, they will be playing at home against Frederick at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Frederick presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Niwot in Colorado (Frederick is ranked 54th, while Niwot is ranked 212th).
