The Clifton Central Comets waltzed into their contest  Thursday with five straight wins  but they left with six. They walked away with  a   66-59  victory over Cissna Park. Given Clifton Central's advantage  in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings  (they are ranked 255th, while Cissna Park is ranked 723rd), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Clifton Central got their  win on the backs of several key players, but it was  Aidan Podowicz out in front who  scored 13 points along with six  assists and six  steals. Those six  assists set a new season-high mark for him.  Blake Chandler was another key contributor,  scoring 20 points along with three  steals.
 Clifton Central's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Cissna Park, they are  on a five-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 1-9.
 Clifton Central won't have much time to rest: their next  matchup is against Bishop McNamara at 5:45  p.m.  on December 15th. Cissna Park is on the road again  on Saturday and play against Tri-Point at 11:00  a.m.  on December 16th. Tri-Point is coming into the  matchup on a five-game losing streak.
