The Swain County Maroon Devils's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Andrews Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Friday.
Last Tuesday, Swain County didn't have too much trouble with Robbinsville on the road as they won 66-52. Swain County pushed the score to 44-24 by the end of the third, a deficit Robbinsville cut but never quite recovered from.
Meanwhile, Andrews entered their tilt with Hayesville with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Andrews walked away with a 58-50 win over Hayesville on Tuesday. Given Andrews' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Hayesville is ranked 465th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Andrews to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron Rattler, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Clark, who scored 13 points.
Swain County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Andrews, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2.
Swain County came out on top in a nail-biter against Andrews in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, sneaking past 51-48. Does Swain County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Andrews turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
