Softball Recap: Auburn Has No Trouble Against Smiths Station

While Auburn put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Smiths Station. The Tigers blew past the Panthers 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Tigers have posted against the Panthers since May 3, 2022.

Not much got past Mary Alderson Grace, who gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Smiths Station off the board. Grace has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Auburn let Lily Brewer and Abigail Helms run wild. Brewer went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Helms went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Helms has posted since back in March. Alivia Harris was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Auburn and bumps their season record up to 20-14. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Smiths Station, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-19-1 record this season.

Auburn will have a chance to go back-to-back against Smiths Station: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
