Rabun County is 2-8 against Franklin since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rabun County Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Franklin Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Rabun County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Franklin likes a good challenge.
Rabun County pushed their score all the way to 63 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-63 to Dawson County. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (60), Rabun County still had to take the loss.
The losing side was boosted by Cooper Welch, who scored 25 points along with 3 blocks. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Huey Blalock was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 10 assists.
Meanwhile, Franklin waltzed into Saturday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Swain County by a score of 73-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
William Rauers was a one-man wrecking crew for Franklin as he dropped a double-double on 29 points and 10 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Max McClure, who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
The losses dropped Rabun County to 1-5 and Dawson County to 4-2.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Rabun County have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 42.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Franklin struggles in that department as they've nailed 38% of theirs this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
