Ardmore extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping them up to 5-3. They strolled past the Bethany Bronchos with points to spare, taking the game 55-36. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Ardmore found their leader in freshman Da'Rai Washington, who rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Washington's longest rush was for an incredible 97 yards. JAYSHON PAYNE was in the mix as well, providing Ardmore with one TD.
Ardmore was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 413 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 263 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Ardmore's defensive line made their presence known, laying out Brody McLaren three times. In that department, Washington was the leader with two sacks. Ardmore received some extra help from PAYNE, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
As for Bethany, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.3 points over those games.
Several Bronchos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was McLaren, who threw for 215 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 119 yards on only 15 carries. McLaren's passing game has become a key predictor of Bethany's success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-4 otherwise. Baren Tehee also helped out as he racked up 101 rushing yards.
