Danville stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 55-7 win over Athens. Given Danville's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Athens is ranked 451st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Danville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaron Johnson out in front who picked up 136 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Johnson hasn't dropped below two receiving touchdowns for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Madden Patrick, who threw for 240 yards and five touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Even though Lewisburg has not done well against Montoursville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Lewisburg strolled past Montoursville with points to spare, taking the game 29-14.
Danville pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.2 points per game. As for Lewisburg, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Everything came up roses for Danville against Lewisburg in their previous matchup back in September as the team secured a 35-3 win. Will Danville repeat their success, or does Lewisburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
