Basketball Game Preview: Abernathy Antelopes vs. Ralls Jackrabbits

Abernathy has gone 7-0 against Ralls recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Abernathy Antelopes will square off against the Ralls Jackrabbits at 6:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Abernathy has six straight wins, Ralls has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Abernathy got the win against New Deal by a conclusive 62-40. The Antelopes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Mecailin Marshall continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Her evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kendal Miller, who posted seven points and three steals.

Abernathy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Ralls lost 53-29 to New Deal on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Jackrabbits can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1015th, while the Lions are ranked 420th).

Ralls' defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Abernathy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Abernathy against Ralls in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 92-19 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Abernathy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
