Haley Boudreau was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alanna Colon was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Savannah Paquin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
As for Ponaganset, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 3, 2025.
On Ponaganset's side, Mattea Mello spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella McKenney, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Selah Mychael, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnston will take on East Greenwich at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Avengers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ponaganset, they will square off against North Providence at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
