Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the New Deal Lions, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against the Elks on Friday, falling 53-16. New Deal's loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why New Deal lost, one person who can't be blamed is Slade Martin. Despite the final result, he rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Bryce Braden continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Stratford, rushing for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 82 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Josue Licon, who rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
New Deal's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Stratford, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
New Deal does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Stratford will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Hawley at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Hawley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
