The Shallowater Mustangs waltzed into Thursday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by Muleshoe on the road to the tune of 80-41. Given Shallowater's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Muleshoe is ranked 953rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Muleshoe's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adam Alarcon, who scored 17 points. Alarcon scored a full 41.5% of Muleshoe's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Kirven, who scored 7 points along with 5 rebounds.
Shallowater's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Muleshoe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Shallowater will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Bushland at 7:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Muleshoe won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Borger at 12:00 p.m. on December 1st. Borger comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
