The Alexandria City Titans are ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Jackson-Reed Tigers. Alexandria City fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 57-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Alexandria City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Darius Bivins, who scored 22 points. Bivins has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kye Robinson, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Jackson-Reed's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Scottie Hubbard, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Justin Gilmore was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Alexandria City's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Jackson-Reed, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-2.
Alexandria City and the Wolverines will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. West Potomac is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Jackson-Reed, they will face off against the Clerks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cardozo has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 435 points over their last six contests.
