The Portage Mustangs''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against River Valley, falling 41-6. Portage was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as River Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2022.
Sam Yanits had a dynamite game for River Valley, rushing for 173 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries. Gavin Burkhart was another key contributor, rushing for 140 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
Portage's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for River Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Portage does not have any more games scheduled as of now. River Valley will look to defend their home field on Friday against Forest Hills at 7:00 p.m. Forest Hills is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
