Palisade is 9-1 against Battle Mountain since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Palisade Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Battle Mountain Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Palisade had to settle for a 48-46 loss against Glenwood Springs. Palisade has struggled against Glenwood Springs recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Battle Mountain's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 67-50 fall against Eagle Valley. While losing is never fun, Battle Mountain can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Eagle Valley is ranked 111th).
Palisade has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Battle Mountain, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Palisade came up short against Battle Mountain in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 67-58. Can Palisade avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
