The Taft Senators will stay at home for another game and welcome the Western Hills Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Taft knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Western Hills likes a good challenge.
It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Taft ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 87-85 victory over Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Taft has posted yet this season.
Meanwhile, Western Hills came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Ponitz Career Tech by a score of 73-61. Given Western Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Ponitz Career Tech is ranked 481st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Taft now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Western Hills, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
Taft couldn't quite finish off Western Hills in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 69-66. Will Taft have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
