Basketball Recap: Athens Christian Piles Up the Points Against George Walton Academy

Athens Christian hadn't done well against George Walton Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Athens Christian Eagles simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the George Walton Academy Bulldogs 62-35. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 21 points or more this season.

Loss or not, George Walton Academy got some senior leadership from Ashley Hill and Leila Mathis. Hill went 5-for-11 on her way to 14 points, while Mathis posted 12 points. Hill is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games she's played.

The victory (which was Athens Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 20-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points over those games. As for George Walton Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 17-6 record this season.
