Marcellus and Cazenovia are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Marcellus Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Cazenovia Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marcellus is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Marcellus scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 97-34 victory over Solvay. That looming 97-34 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Marcellus yet this season.
Marcellus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Will Kershaw, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Tucker Burnett, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Meanwhile, Cazenovia was fully in charge on December 1st, breezing past Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 68-41 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-20.
Marcellus' victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Cazenovia, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Everything came up roses for Marcellus against Cazenovia when the teams last played back in February as the team secured a 87-25 victory. With Marcellus ahead 41-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.
