Rising Sun can attribute much of their success to Bri Sams, who had 12 digs and two aces. Those two aces gave Sams a new career-high. Ryan Works also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
They weren't the only good server: Rising Sun was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwestern only served six aces.
Despite the loss, Southwestern still got an impressive performance from Jocelyn Johnson, who had 13 digs. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last seven games she's played.
Rising Sun has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Southwestern, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 6-4.
Looking ahead, Rising Sun will welcome East Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Southwestern, they will venture away from home to square off against Jac-Cen-Del at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
