Western Missouri recap Oct. 23, 2012
Adrian's Austin Corley rumbled for the longest rushing play in Western Missouri this season in his game against El Dorado Springs last week. Corley scampered for 66 yards on the play and finished with 68 on the day as his team bested the Bulldogs.
Drexel extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lone Jack, 54-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Bobcats.
Adrian's dynamic duo of Austin Pitts and Joe Collins proved tough for El Dorado Springs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Pitts threw for 142 yards and two touchdowns and Collins had 76 yards receiving. Rian Lewis helped Adrian's passing attack out by catching two balls for 44 yards.
Driston Self provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Osceola topped Pleasant Hope. He completed seven passes for 71 yards and also ran for 139 yards. Self's favorite target this week was Derek Self, who caught three passes for 28 yards.
Osceola's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Self has thrown for 833 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Self has 16 catches for 255 yards. Self also leads the league in rushing with 944 yards.
Self of the the Indians is only 56 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in Western Missouri this week will be when the Blackhawks take on Osceola. As it stands, Adrian is in third, while Paul Carney's team is in fourth.
There should be lots of points scored when the Blackhawks and the Indians face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Adrian comes in having scored 158 this season, while Osceola has scored 237. The Blackhawks scored 28 points last week as they bested Brian Koehler's team.
Drexel took down the Mules 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
