The Christian Community Warriors waltzed into their contest Monday with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 53-47 W over Kingsway Christian. Given Christian Community's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while Kingsway Christian is ranked 804th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Christian Community's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Seth Roberts, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Roberts' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gabe McQueen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Kingsway Christian still got an impressive performance from Eli Owens, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of JT Bischoff, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Christian Community's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. As for Kingsway Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Varsity Opponent the next time they take the court. Christian Community will host Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Kingsway Christian will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
