The Quitman Panthers put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Heidelberg with points to spare, taking the game 59-45. Given Quitman's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Heidelberg is ranked 155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Quitman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but AUDRIANA HARRIS led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. The game was HARRIS's eighth in a row with at least ten points. AALIYAH NIXON was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Quitman's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Heidelberg, they have fallen quite a ways from their 27-8 record last season and are now at 1-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Quitman will take on West Jones at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Heidelberg won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Southeast Lauderdale at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th.
