The Hillcrest Huskies will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Summit Academy Bears at 7:00 p.m. Hillcrest will be strutting in after a victory while Summit Academy will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Hillcrest has not done well against Mountain Ridge recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hillcrest walked away with a 57-47 win over Mountain Ridge. The score was all tied up 28-28 at the break, but Hillcrest was the better team in the second half.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hillcrest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zach Tanner, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Damani Wilkerson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Summit Academy struggled with assists last Monday (Bountiful had 1600% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Summit Academy took a serious blow against Bountiful, falling 98-48. Summit Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-19.
Defeat or not, Summit Academy got some senior leadership from Colbyn Draper who scored 20 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals and Lance Green who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds. Draper scored a full 41.7% of Summit Academy's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stewart Woodward, who scored 5 points.
Hillcrest now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Summit Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
