Basketball Recap: Arcanum Skates Past Tri-County North with Ease

Arcanum had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 34-point drubbing they dealt Tri-County North on Thursday. The Arcanum Trojans took their matchup with ease, bagging a 65-31 victory over the Tri-County North Panthers. The Trojans pushed the score to 53-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers had little chance of recovering from.

Arcanum was led to victory by Lexy Gibbons and Caroline Long. Gibbons went 9 of 17 on her way to 28 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Long dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Long has become a key player for Arcanum: the team is 9-3 when she posts at least eight boards, but 4-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Wooten, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Arcanum was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri-County North only racked up seven assists.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bella Cherry, who put up ten points. Another player making a difference was Leinani Garcia, who scored nine points and five boards.

The win (which was Arcanum's third in a row) raised their record to 13-8. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 35.3% in those games and 23.3% outside of them. As for Tri-County North, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

Arcanum wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-24 defeat against St. Henry on the 8th. As for Tri-County North, they have also already played their next game, a 67-40 loss against Troy Christian on the 8th.
