Basketball Recap: Kyleigh Weick's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bonita Springs over Ida Baker

Bonita Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ida Baker Bulldogs. If the Bullsharks were looking for revenge after losing 37-22 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Bullsharks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyleigh Weick, who posted 22 points. Weick's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Sydney Swanner was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Ida Baker's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nicolette Skowron led the charge by going 5 of 12 on her way to 11 points in addition to six boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilee Plummer, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Bonita Springs' loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Ida Baker, they moved to 1-3 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Bonita Springs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-17 defeat against Estero on the 6th. Ida Baker has also already played their next match, a 54-41 loss against Lehigh on the 5th.
