The Pasadena Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. The match between them and Pasadena Memorial wasn't particularly close, with the Eagles falling 57-41. While losing is never fun, Pasadena can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1148th, while the Mavericks are ranked 474th).
Despite the loss, Pasadena still got an impressive performance from Amy Caballero, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. It was the first time this season that Caballero posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Caryme Molina, who scored ten points.
Gwendlyn Mcgrew was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds for Pasadena Memorial. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mcgrew has scored at least a third of Pasadena Memorial's points. Cassandra Perez was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Pasadena has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-20 record this season. As for Pasadena Memorial, they pushed their record up to 18-12 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Channelview the next time they take the court. Pasadena will head out to face the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Mavericks will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
