Baseball Recap: Shiprock Has No Trouble Against Monument Valley

While Shiprock put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Monument Valley. Shiprock was the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over Monument Valley. The win continues a trend for the Chieftains in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won five in a row.

Lujan Benally made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Benally was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Freedom Cobb was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Jeramyh Begay, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Shiprock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monument Valley didn't got any hits.

The victory got Shiprock back to even at 3-3. As for Monument Valley, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Shiprock didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-0 loss against New Mexico Military Institute on the 20th. As for Monument Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 21-2 defeat against Blue Ridge on the 18th.
