Jesuit is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Northeast is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Jesuit Tigers will take on the Northeast Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Jesuit rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 40-7 win over Pinellas Park at home. The result was nothing new for Jesuit, who have now won four contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Jesuit's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from S.J. Green, who picked up 65 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Drew Woodaz got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Jesuit's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Zach Quinn and Peter Pesansky who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Northeast won a match that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Hillsborough 27-26.
Javeyon Mckenzie and Trey Whirley were among the main playmakers for Northeast as the former picked up 162 receiving yards and two touchdowns and the latter threw for 257 yards and two touchdowns.
Jesuit's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Northeast, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
