The Legacy Charter Eagles will be playing at home against the East Ridge Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Legacy Charter posted their closest win yet this season on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Faith Christian out 59-57. The score was all tied up 32-32 at the break, but Legacy Charter was the better team in the second half.
Legacy Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emanuel Longchamp, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Longchamp has scored all season. Jayden Richmond was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to East Ridge, who are still winless after their 16th contest. They fell 71-61 to Hope Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, East Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 637th, while Hope Academy is ranked 248th).
East Ridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jordan Corman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Nicholas Vazquez who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. That was a full 34.4% of East Ridge's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Roberto Alvarez, who scored four points along with ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, East Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hope Academy only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Legacy Charter now has a winning record of 8-7. As for East Ridge, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-16.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's matchup: Legacy Charter have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 44.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like East Ridge struggles in that department as they've only made 35.8% of their threes per game this season. Given Legacy Charter's sizeable advantage in that area, East Ridge will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
