After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dougherty, the Columbus Blue Devils were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They blew past Thomasville 64-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Columbus has posted since December 2, 2023.
Columbus was led to victory by De'andre Wooten and Robert Hartford. Wooten scored ten points along with nine assists and eight steals, while Hartford scored 15 points along with six assists and four steals. Hartford hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Savon Kelly, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Xavier Burkes jr. and Nigel Pittman certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Burkes jr. scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Pittman scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Columbus is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Thomasville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Columbus will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Crisp County at 4:30 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Zakariyya Dwight and Hartford. As for Thomasville, they will head out on the road to challenge Carver at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Carver will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
