After a string of three wins, the Carver Vo-Tech Bears's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Poly. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Carver Vo-Tech has scored all season.
Carver Vo-Tech's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dorrian Sands, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Sands posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Matthews, who scored ten points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Poly to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elisha Kutcherman, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Kutcherman hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Gaymon II, who scored seven points along with five assists and five steals.
Carver Vo-Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Poly, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Carver Vo-Tech will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Mustangs at 5:15 p.m. on January 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (Mergenthaler Vo-Tech is ranked 45th, while the Bears are ranked 68th). As for Poly, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
