4A Region I District 1 recap September 17, 2013
Bryant Wolf of El Paso ran for the longest rushing play in 4A Region I District 1 this season against Clint last week. Wolf scampered for 93 yards on the play and finished with 136 on the day as his team defeated the Lions.
Fans got a thrill when Jesus Ortiz and Marcos Torres connected against Chaparral. The connection was good for 64 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Jefferson's dynamic duo of Ortiz and Torres proved to be unstoppable against the Lobos, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ortiz threw for 191 yards and 2 touchdowns and Torres had 80 yards receiving.

Ricky Olivas was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 345 yards on 30 carries as Austin beat Mark Aguilar's team.
He was 7-12 with 0 interceptions.
Olivas was a passing and rushing force as the Panthers fell to Bel Air.
Olivas was a beast in the backfield as Austin lost to the Highlanders.
Ortiz put up the best numbers through the air as Jim Clark's team beat the Lobos.
Torres was the best wideout in 4A Region I District 1 this week as the Silver Foxes topped Chaparral.
The leading receiver in the league this season is EDDIE SINEGAL. The Andress star has 9 catches for 156 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Chapin takes on Burges. The Huskies are in seventh place, while the Mustangs are in fourth place.
El Paso moved up to 797 from 904 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Robert Morales' team climbed the ranks as a result of besting Clint 30-20.
