The Booker Tornadoes are on the road again on Friday and play against the Bishop Verot Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Booker rose to the challenge on Friday. They took down Lemon Bay 14-0.
Booker had a senior duo take command as Ahmad ?tooda? hunter rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown and Josiah Booker gained 76 total yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Booker's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Kevontay Hugan and his 2.5 sacks.
Meanwhile, Bishop Verot put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 44-6 victory over Estero at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-0.
Bishop Verot relied on the efforts of Carter Smith, who threw for 288 yards and four touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes, and Matthew Turner, who picked up 238 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Turner's longest reception was for an incredible 99 yards. Another big playmaker for Bishop Verot was Ryan Gadson, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Booker is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Bishop Verot, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 11-1 record.
