Pima is on a 17-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Scottsdale Christian Academy is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pima Roughriders will take on the Scottsdale Christian Academy Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pima has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 559 points over their last ten matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Pima rose to the challenge on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 win over the Roadrunners. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Pima got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tuddy Smart out in front who rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Another player making a difference was Hayden Blair, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Scottsdale Christian Academy's game on Saturday was all tied up 8-8 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Arizona Lutheran Academy by a score of 23-16.
Andrew Trapp continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 110 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, while also catching a touchdown. Trapp's longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards.
Their wins bumped Pima to 13-0 and San Tan Charter to 10-3.
Pima came out on top in a nail-biter against Scottsdale Christian Academy when the teams last played back in September, sneaking past 23-20. Does Pima have another victory up their sleeve, or will Scottsdale Christian Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
