The Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 63-41 loss at the hands of Stuart. Chambers/Wheeler Central has not had much luck with Stuart recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Chambers/Wheeler Central saw an underclassman step up: Michael Jesse scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Jesse pulled down eight or more rebounds. Daniel Kluver was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Stuart's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drew Schmaderer led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Schmaderer continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavynn Mustin, who scored 16 points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Chambers/Wheeler Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Stuart, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chambers/Wheeler Central's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Boyd County at 8:00 p.m. on January 16th. Boyd County is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Stuart, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Elgin/Pope John. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Elgin/Pope John is ranked 97th, while Stuart is ranked 102nd).
