Ohio Heritage recap October 1, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Ohio Heritage this week, West Liberty-Salem beat Northeastern 49-23. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Mechanicsburg scaled the state rankings by moving to 303 from 346 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Indians climbed the ranks as a result of beating Cedarville 26-20.
Kaleb ROMERO was a passing and rushing force as Mechanicsburg beat the Indians. He completed 8 passes for 126 yards and also ran for 36 yards. ROMERO's key target this week was Brandon PURK, who caught 6 passes for 86 yards.
Aeryton ERWIN was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 141 yards as Kurt Forrest's team bested Cedarville. Joe ZIEGLER also contributed to the rushing game with 42 yards on the ground.
Leading Ohio Heritage in both passing and receiving yards, Triad's Trent McIntyre and Tre McIntyre have proven to be a lethal combination. McIntyre has thrown for 1,030 yards this season, while McIntyre, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 23 catches for 488 yards. The Indians' ERWIN leads the league in rushing yards with 728.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Mechanicsburg takes on the Cardinals. As it stands, the Indians are in third, while Triad is in second.
The league will see a high scoring game when Mechanicsburg and Payton Printz's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Indians comes in having scored 173 this season, while the Cardinals have scored 149. Mechanicsburg scored 26 points last week as it beat the Indians.
Triad took down Greeneview 34-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
